Your data, plainly.
Who we are
MDplus is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community for physician-innovators. This policy covers this website, mdplus.community, and the member app at app.mdplus.community, where people join, sign in and use the member directory. Some MDplus projects at other addresses, such as catalyst.mdplus.community and ai.mdplus.community, run separately and may have their own policies.
What we collect
- When you join: your name, email, school or institution, training stage, specialty, degree, LinkedIn profile, your CV if you upload one, how you heard about us, your interests, anything you write in the form's open box, and whether you want our newsletter.
- Your account: your email and a password, which our sign-in provider stores in hashed form, so we never see it. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile photo with us. We don't get access to anything else in your Google account.
- Your member profile: whatever you add to it, such as a headline, bio, photo, links, school and interests.
- The newsletter: your email address.
- When you email us: whatever you send.
- Technical data: like most websites, our servers log requests, including IP addresses and browser details, to keep the sites secure and running.
How we use it
- To review applications and decide membership. Some applications are accepted automatically when they clearly meet our criteria, such as training stage. No one is turned down automatically: a person on our team reviews every application that isn't accepted.
- To read your CV, if you upload one. Our own servers read it automatically to fill in and check your training details. It isn't sent to outside AI services.
- To run the member directory, invite you to our Slack community, and email you about your application and membership.
- To send the newsletter, if you asked for it. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
- To understand, in totals only, how many people join and where they hear about us.
Who can see it
- Our admin team sees applications, CVs and member profiles, to review and run the community.
- Other accepted members see your directory profile: your name, photo, email, school, degree, headline, bio, interests and links. You can hide it at any time by turning off “Show in Directory” on your profile. People who haven't been accepted can't see the directory.
- Services that work for us handle data only to provide their service:
- Supabase: accounts, our database and CV storage
- Cloudflare: hosting these websites
- Resend: sending our emails
- Mailchimp: the newsletter
- Google: Sign in with Google, and our own email
- Slack: our community workspace, if you join it. Slack's own privacy policy applies there.
We don't sell your personal information. We share it with others only when the law requires us to.
Cookies
We use cookies only to keep you signed in to the member app and to remember access to a private preview page. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. If we measure visits, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or follow you across other sites. The podcast page embeds Spotify's player, which may set its own cookies when you use it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, application and profile while you're a member, or until you ask us to delete them. You stay on the newsletter until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept only for a short time.
Your choices
You can update your profile, or hide it from the directory, at any time in the member app. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or have your account and application deleted, email admin@mdplus.community. We'll reply within 30 days.
Security
CVs are stored privately. Only you and our admins can open yours, through links that expire after a few minutes. Access to member data is limited to the people and services that need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Age
MDplus is for medical students, trainees and physicians. It isn't meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date below, and email members about significant changes. Questions? Write to admin@mdplus.community.
